JIM FOX  bought his first guitar at the age of 15, having saved money from his Saturday job working in a "swinging sixties boutique".  Armed with his Bert Weedon "Play In A Day" guitar tutor, he soon proved that it took a bit longer than 24 hours to master the chords.  It wasn't long though before he made his first public appearance, playing in a school production of Brecht's "Caucasian Chalk Circle", and soon after that he was performing a selection of folk songs at his local Youth Club.  In those days he was listening to such varied artists as Johnny Cash, Donovan, Lonnie Donegan,  Bob Dylan and The Troggs.  It was a few years later, however, when Jim first heard the music of Larry Norman that the seeds for his own particular style and performances were sown.

Over the following years Jim continued playing whenever the opportunity arose and at the same time he started writing his own material.  He became a regular fixture on the streets of Swansea & Worcester with his songs and also on the UK Folk Club circuit.  As his popularity grew he became in great demand at festivals and in the growing Irish music scene in Britain and pretty soon busking on the streets became a distant memory.

Jim has performed at many major music festivals, including Glastonbury Festival and Pontardawe International Music Festival as well as major venues around the UK and Ireland.  Moving in to the 21st century, Jim decided to venture out into Europe, playing in France and Ireland and, more recently, in Denmark where he has now set up a second base and tours regularly for around 4 months each year.  On top of that he has been seen and heard many times on television and radio in the UK and Europe.

He has also worked and performed with a number of international artists including, American Hammered Dulcimer Wizard - Jim Couza, Irish Eurovision winner - Johnny Logan, Show of Hands, The Oyster Band and The Dubliners.

Now working mainly as a solo artist, Jim has also fronted The Pig & Whistle Band, The Fox Band and Madra Rua.  He still occasionally performs and records with Ian Thomas who was guitarist with Madra Rua and who has also toured extensively with Jim.

"I have three homes, my domestic home in Swansea where I have lived (on and off) since 1971, my business home in Denmark where the majority of my shows are now and my spiritual home in Galway, Ireland, where I go to whenever I can to re-charge the batteries"
